The desktop app

Text Edit MD reads, edits, and prints documents on your computer. No account, advertising, document-upload service, or app analytics is included. Remote scripts do not run in your document.

When you explicitly choose Import linked images, the app requests the image from its address. That image host receives a network request, including the connection’s IP address. The importer sends no chat account credentials or cookies. Links you choose to open use your browser, where the destination’s policies apply.

Local storage

Version 0.10.0 stores preferences, save backups, and its WebView cache under %LOCALAPPDATA%/Text Edit MD/Neutralino. Backups contain previous document contents. Documents stay at the locations you choose when saving. The portable build uses this same local storage location.

This website

No advertising scripts, third-party analytics scripts, tracking cookies, or document-upload form are used here. Download buttons record the time, package type, and app version for aggregate request counts. The counter stores no IP addresses, browser identifiers, or document contents. Repeat requests may count again; these are not unique-user or completed-install counts.

The hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs, including IP addresses and requested pages, to operate the site. Those logs are separate from the download counter.
